This is a unique, antique mint, unsharpened, uncarried Sheffield 12 blade knife known for many decades as the “Hare & Pheasant" Exhibition Sportsman’s Masterpiece by the renowned Sheffield Maker Joseph Rodgers with silver engraved fittings, circa 1840; published in two important publications (1986 & 1999) with very impressive provenance .
This extremely high-quality Exhibition knife was made in Sheffield, England, the knife capital of the world at the time and hundreds of years prior.
This early 12 blade Exhibition piece with silver engraved bolsters & fittings is dated to 1840 in the 1986 Rodgers Exhibition Knives catalog and was created to be exhibited and displayed in the Rodgers Showroom as a Showpiece.
