s a Rare, Antique Minty, Unsharpened silver handle Gentleman's Sheffield made Quill bladed Pocket Knife by the renowned Sheffield Maker Joseph Rodgers. This is an extremely high-quality pocketknife made in Sheffield, the knife capitol of the world at the time, and for hundreds of years prior. Joseph Rodgers, along with IXL, were the two premier Sheffield cutlers from the 18th through the 19th centuries. Joseph Rodgers was a much more prolific maker than IXL; and in my opinion, made the best cutlery ever produced on this planet.
This small, delicate knife was completely handmade by J. Rodgers Master Sheffield Cutlers using only simple hand tools, i.e., hand forged & hand ground blades, hand tempered springs, hand fitted, et al. This mint, unsharpened piece is about 4 5/8" open, 3" long closed x 9/16" wide x 3/16" thick. Weight is only .4 of an ounce or 14 grams.
