Here's an interesting little Smith & Wesson revolver. This is a Model 37 "Chief's Special Airweight" that was manufactured for the Peruvian investigative police, their equivalent to our FBI. According to the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", there were just 250 of these revolvers produced for the contract in 1984.
They are identified by the Peruvian police marking and crest on the sideplate which reads "POLICIA DE INVESTIGACIONES DEL PERU".
This revolver is built on the round butt alloy J-frame and chambers the .38 Special cartridge. It has a 5-shot steel cylinder and 2" steel barrel with serrated ramp front sight.
No MIM parts, no internal safety lock, and the firing pin is still located in the hammer nose. Weight is 13.6 ounces. Overall condition is excellent . The original bright blue finish rates about 97-98%.
The stocks are in excellent without any cracks or chips. The mechanics are in good working order and the bore is excellent as well.
This revolver appears little more than test fired. A nice collectible Smith & Wesson revolver that would make an excellent concealed carry piece as well!
