Here's a very nice Colt Official Police double-action revolver! This service style revolver, obviously marketed to law enforcement, was manufactured in 1931. It is chambered for the .38 Special cartridge and is built on Colt's "E" frame. It wears a 6-inch barrel with fixed service sights...the front sight a "half-moon", the rear sight a square notch in the serrated/matted top strap. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder release are checkered. Overall condition is excellent.
There is no pitting anywhere. The flush medallion checkered walnut stocks are also in excellent condition with minimal wear and no cracks. The mechanics are in good working order with good timing and solid lock-up. The bore is likewise excellent with bright, sharp rifling. It comes with the original box that numbers to the gun.
According to the included factory letter, this Official Police revolver was shipped on February 18, 1931 to a hardware store in Pittsburgh. A very nice pre-war Colt revolver!
