The original finish is in very nice condition with some minor sharp edge wear and a few handling marks. There is no rust or any pitting and I'd grade the original finish about 95-96% overall. The feed ramp is correctly milled in the white and the inspection marks are stamped through the finish...good indicators of original finish.
The stocks are in excellent shape, free of any cracks or chips. The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore rates about very good with bright, sharp rifling.
Internal wear patterns between the frame, barrel and slide mirror each other and show that these parts are all factory original to one another. It is interesting to note that this pistol is fitted with a 1911 style slide stop. While somewhat unusual, this was simply a case of Colt was using up some older parts and several other correct Colt pistols in this same general serial number range have been noted.
It comes with one excellent condition Colt commercial-to-military transfer magazine that has the commercial markings on the base with the base sand blasted to match the military finish of the pistol. According to the included factory letter, this pistol was shipped to Springfield Armory on October 2, 1942.
A very nice, completely original example of the early WWII Colt .45 pistol!
