Up for your consideration is a very interesting French Helmet with a round ball lodged into the back of the Helmet. These were the types of helmets used by French Cuirassiers between 1809-1866. I believe this one was damaged in the Crimean War given the size of the round ball. It’s also possible that this could have been used in the American Civil War as these European type helmets were know to have been imported and used by cavalry units but more than likely this was used in a European conflict.
This is a very interesting conversation piece and would be at home in a museum, historical events or private collections alike.
