Up for sale is a 28” Westley Richards double hammer bar in wood crab knuckle dolls head 11 bore side by side shotgun.
The serial number 13662 suggests the gun was completed in the latter part of the 1870's or early 1880's. The "Patented October 10th, 1865" that is engraved on top of the barrels is referring to the rib extension that extends past the barrel breeches and locks into the slot on top of the action. During the 1800's the 12 gauge had not yet been adopted as the common bore size we know today and one can encounter guns made as 11 gauge, 13 gauge, and 14 gauge from this same period. According to the proof marks on the bottom of the barrels, this gun has as an "11 Bore".
The overall length is 44 ½”, the stock is 19” and the LOP is 13” at the rear trigger and 14” at the front trigger.
It is in good overall condition with no issues, cracks or damage .
