This is a 50 caliber smooth bore rifle that has been converted to percussion. It has a 44- inch octagon barrel The barrel, I believe is marked Gilley. The Lock is Marked Riddle. This is a fine example of a southern mountain rifle that had all its parts made by hand.The lock was added at the time of conversion. I believe the stock is cherry. It is hand carved and has no provision for a butt plate. A fine piece for your Mantle. Antique! No LICENCE Required!
