This is a Vintage Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 Second Issue Revolver. It has a mostly worn, blue finish with a worn silver-plated brass frame and rosewood grips. This revolver was produced between 1860-1868. The barrel is stamped with “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS” and cylinder is also marked with a barely visible patent date. The barrel is a 3 3/16" in length and octagonal. The Model No. 1 1st Issue was Smith & Wesson's first metallic cartridge firearm, beginning a long line of weaponry still very much in the forefront of the industry to this day. This is a Second Issue with a total production number of about 117,000. This one has a serial number of 95029. Readily distinguishable from the Model No. 1 First Issue by the flat sides of the frame and the irregular shaped side plate, but the Second Issue is otherwise quite close in appearance to its predecessor. This revolver is in good condition considering its age. It shows normal signs of use, wear and patina for its era. Please see specifications:
