U.S. Model 1842 percussion pistol by Ira N. Johnson. The top of the barrel is marked “US / GW / P”, the upper tang is dated 1850, and the lock is stamped “MIDDTN / CONN / 1855” and “US / I.N. JOHNSON”. Ira Johnson was a partner of H. Aston & Co. but left to set up his own production facility. This pistol is in very good condition.
The finish has scattered areas of handling wear and patches of pitting, the stock has minor dings and scuffs, and there is light verdigris on the brass. The action and the bore are both good.
