“STELLA’S SILVER STAR SALOON” Antique BELGIAN SHOTGUN 16 Ga Double Barrel
Bar Style Percussion Shotgun c1860s
Here we present an antique Belgian Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Shotgun, marked “STELLA’S SILVER STAR SALOON”, manufactured circa the 1860s in Liege, Belgium. During this era, there were many English and Belgian gunmakers who were capitalizing on the eager markets in the United States.
This 16 gauge scattergun is marked “Stella’s Silver Star Saloon” on the buttstock. Shotguns, shortened ones especially, were used to keep the peace in many a saloon back in the Wild West days. When not being used to corral drunk cowboys, it would have been a staple of most homesteads hanging over the mantle during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s or riding “shotgun” on coaches by couriers.
The overall condition is fair. Dark patina throughout. The actions are strong. The bores are dim and smooth. Barrels shortened.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel: 18-1/2 inches.
Caliber: 16 Gauge
