This is an early Smith and Wesson revolver. Made between 1857-60. .22 short rimfire, 7 shots. Barrel is 3-3/16" long. Rosewood grips. Brass frame. Spring loaded side projection barrel catch works nicely. Action is weak. Hammer spring is worn or damaged as hammer will stay back when trigger is forward. Nice finish overall, with solid grips. Patent dates on cylinder and maker marks on barrel.
Serial number places it in the sixth Type of the 1st issue. About 11,000 made of all the types.
