Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine .52 Cal. BP Made 1859-66 SN-C10637 Antique

The condition of this New Model 1863 Sharps carbine is Good+ to VG. (1) Action left side is clean and smooth no metal issues. Action right side is smooth in front of the hammer and the hammer has smooth metal surface. The area behind the hammer has had light frosting and been cleaned up. Some case color is visible under most of the colored parts. This indicates the metal surface has had a light layer of bluing at some point (typically the color is lost and the original metal will be silver). (2) The stampings on both sides are legible but you can tell not sharp. (3) The top tang still retains sharp stamped serial number and looks original. (4) The barrel is original finish that has turned to a brown/ blued color over the years. The bottom of the barrel holds strong original bluing (picture) and the serial number “C,10637” is sharp. There is an American eagle struck and the number “46”. The inside extractor is also stamped “46”. (5) The lower tang, trigger and lever lock show more bluing. The butt is case colored also and in “stronger” condition then the action. (6) The stock is in decent condition not being all dinged up. The stock was lightly sanded and has a light layer of protective finish added. There is no cartouche on the left side . (7) The forearm appears in all original condition and is in very good condition. The forearm shows correct signs of its age with the finish being absorbed into the wood pours . There is no finish added to its surfaces. (8) The bore is VG to VG+ and the 6 - grooved rifling is sharp. The chamber is bright and smooth clean. There is some light pitting just for the first few inches of the bore.
(9) The hammer safety sear is strong and the hammer pull is strong.
