Scarce Remington Keene Deluxe ? Sporting Bolt Action Riffle

Up for sale is an antique Remington Keene Sporting bolt action rifle chambered in 45-70 Govt. Half round, half octagon barrel measures 28" in length with a moderately bright, frosted bore showing scattered light pitting with a couple of more moderate scattered pits. Barrel action and magazine tube retain about 45% blued finish with the balance having been cleaned at some point and now toning to a brownish-black patina with scattered rust staining, handling marks and pinprick pitting while the triggerguard and magazine well have toned to mostly brown patina with streaks of gray and various handling marks. Round knob pistol grip wood stock features checkering on the sides of the forend and wrist with a straight comb. Stock shows a repaired complete split through the wrist along with an added oil finish with scattered nicks, bumps and scratches, some worn points in the checkering and there is a run in the finish on the left side of the wrist while the nosecap and buttplate have toned to patina. Rifle is sighted with a German silver front blade and folding rear ladder. Remington markings on the bolt are slightly softened but remain legible. Action does cycles. Appears to be a “Deluxe” version based on the stock. A hard to find variant of an already difficult to find gun and should be a good addition to your collection.
