We have a Robert Adams Double-Action Percussion Civil War Era Revolver. This little percussion revolver was made during the Civil War period.
It has some neat features like a safety built into the side of the frame and a loading lever that rides alongside the barrel. The wooden grips are checkered and fit precisely to the frame. The pistol is in Fair-Good condition. The single-action and double-action do not function correctly. The double-action works on two of the cylinders and gets hung up on the cylinder in the other three positions. The metal has a gray and brown patina. The grips are in good shape with sharp checkering. The bottom of the grip frame has been polished. There is some oxidation present on the nipples of the cylinder. The bore has oxidation and some mild pitting with rifling still present. Patent, serial number and makers mark are all clear and legible. This was a first quality handgun, and one that a soldier would have been proud to carry. It was most likely expensive compared to others available at the time so was likely owned by someone of means. This would make a great addition to any collection, especially to those who are looking for or collect civil war era sidearms. Don't wait too long and miss the chance to make it yours
