This is a Remington .22 short Vest Pocket Derringer. This is a nickel plated single shot derringer with a falling block style action. It has fixed sights, a spur trigger, and saw handle hardwood grips. It is in good condition with much of the original nickel remaining, a repaired crack on the right side grip, perfect mechanical functioning, and an fair bore with strong distinct rifling, but a lot of pitting. The .22 short differs from the larger caliber vest pocket derringers in that is does not have a separate breech block, the hammer acts as a breech block. This is a very cool and rare piece, only 25,000 were made between 1865 and 1888 in all calibers.
