This is a rare and all original Springfield Armory Model 1870 Trapdoor Rifle in .50-70 caliber that was probably manufactured in 1872 or early 1873.
This is a very scarce Springfield Model 1870 .50-70 Caliber Trapdoor Rifle. Only 12,000 of these Rifles were ever made and the survivability rate has been very low, so these rarely come up for sale. This is the perfect addition to the Springfield, Indian Wars or US Military Weapons collector.
