Here is a fairly good example of the Colt Model 1849 pocket revolver which was the predecessor of the Model 1848 Navy Dragoon. This example is in good condition for an antique. The barrel measures about 4" and the bore looks pretty good for an antique - somewhat bright as well as shiny with strong rifling along with some scattered dark areas. The action works very well with good indexing. The serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and cylinder match - the back strap does not. This appears to have been manufactured around 1856. There is a little bit of wobble where the barrel meets the frame but its not much. The cylinder has very nice scene and is tight. All in all this is a good affordable example being offered at a reasonable price so don't miss out.
