Antique Production - Mauser Commission 88 marked; GEW 88 – DANZIG - 1891 serial # 73xx. It has a 29” barrel covered by a hollow steel tube & was the first military rifle to take a rimless cartridge. The serial number on the receiver & barrel tube match – the rest do not.
The stock is walnut; nice finish – solid with no cracks or arsenal repairs – less than expected handling marks. Steel butt plate - cleaning rod - sling swivels – vintage leather sling in great shape is included.
Mechanically sound; functions properly & safely – the bore is bright & shiny with no frosting – Excellent Condition. The last owner had this in his collection for several decades & fired it on occasion - he states it is as accurate as they come.
