This is a Maubeuge Arsenal Model An XIII flintlock pistol that is in fair condition overall. The metal is lightly pitted with some deeper pitting evident on the end of the barrel. This pistol has numerous markings stamped on it, and the stock has what appears to be faint remnants of two cartouches on the left side.
Based on the markings, I believe that this pistol was originally manufactured in 1812 and was possibly refurbished or repaired at the factory in 1838, but was not converted to percussion in 1841 as were many of the AN XIII pistols still in service. It also appears to have escaped the 1854-1857 French arsenal alterations to rifled arms and the addition of a fixed rear sight and front sight. The ramrod appears to be the original button head rammer for round ball and not the heavy cupped head ramrod used on the rifled pistols.
