This is a small pocket revolver chambered in .30 Rimfire made by J. M. Marlin in the mid 1870’s and called the “XXX Standard 1872 Pocket Revolver”. Marlin made this spur trigger single action revolver in four variants: octagon barrel, round barrel with non-fluted cylinder, round barrel with short fluted cylinder and round barrel with long fluted cylinder. This is the 3rd variant, made with a round ribbed barrel and short fluted cylinder, of which approximately 10,000 were produced.
he mechanical condition is great, the serial numbers are matching, and with only 10,000 of this variant having been made, this is sure to catch the eye of the early black powder cartridge revolver collectors.
