Marlin Ballard Mid Range A1 40 cal.

Very nice old Marlin Ballard Mid Range A1 drop block target rifle 40 cal. They were made in several versions 40 cal, this one mic,s at 406. Horn inlay on nose cap and hand grip. Excellent bore clean with good grooves, no pitting nor rust. Wood has bumps and dings but no cracks. Receiver great blue left with very little rust cover and no pitting. The barrel has patina forming but nothing that 0000 steel wool would not take away and leave a barrel with lots of blue. I have been told that for antiques that is a bad thing so I did not do so. Stamped on left side of receiver is JM Marlin. Ballard patent Nov. 5 1861.
