Up for sale is a large, antique full stock percussion rifle in about 44 caliber by Truitt, Pendleton and Truitt. Octagon barrel measures 42" in length to the nipple bolster with a dark, rusted and pitted bore with visible rifling and meaures 1" across the flats at the muzzle. Surfaces of the barrel and lock have toned to shades of brown and gray patina with areas of older rust staining, handling marks and high edge wear with pitting around the areas of the nipple and a lock. Brass hardware is toning to shades of ochre patina with scattered handling marks and stains and the patch box shows some decorative engraving. Full length stock shows added varnish with a mix of older and newer scratches, nicks and ding with some thin repaired cracks under the finish on the right side behind the nosecap and there is a newer 9" hairline crack along a section of the left side of the forearm. Rifle is sighted with a low blade front sight and notch rear.
Top barrel flat behind the rear is roughly carved “Loginter” while the lock is marked “Truitt, Pendleton & Truitt” although the marking is worn.
