This Ethan Allen & Co. early side hammer style pocket revolver was manufactured in Worchester, Massachusetts and is stamped on the side 2 ¼” barrel flat, “ETHAN ALLEN & CO. WORCHESTER. MASS.”, “ALLENS PATS. SEPT. 7. NOV. 9. 1858. SEPT. 24. 1861 in 2 lines.
The standard pattern is blued finish with walnut grips; this piece is finely hand engraved; nickel plated with original premium grip scales. The serial number 3,8xx is stamped on the left side of the frame, the underside of the barrel and the rear of the unfluted cylinder, the cylinder pin, and the inside of both the original scales are also stamped with the last 3 digits of the serial number.
The action of the gun is excellent + with a tight cylinder when the hammer is at rest and also when cocked. Given the fine mechanics, bright inside cylinders and bore, it appears this gun was carried, but fired very little. This a very well-made, high-quality firearm with lots of eye appeal.
This is an antique and will be shipped to a buyer's home FOC
