American Civil War era British Tower Pattern 1853 (P53) musket in .65 Caliber percussion. These were used by both Confederate and Union forces during the Civil War. Lock is marked “TOWER/1861”. Birmingham cartouche on the left side of the stock. 39” barrel with blade front sight and rear ladder. Mixed blued in the white finishes. Brass trigger guard and butt plate. Bands were all painted black. Stock has been sanded, oiled and lacquered. Period ramrod installed.
CONDITION: Metal has heat brown patina throughout. Brass parts have been polished, wood has a repair in front and rear of the lock.
Bore is frosted, with some pitting. Nipple has some pitting. Lock is working. Antique, no licence required
