Very good to near fine, the metal surfaces are largely a classic gunmetal gray patina with lovely flashes of original case color in the protected areas, and bluing remaining strongest in the cylinder flutes. The niter-bluing has darkened on the trigger and paled on the screws and, apart from some pinpricks on the frame's left side and a few scattered shallow pits, there is no rust or notably deep pitting observed anywhere on the gun's exterior. The markings are correct and unbuffed with the “FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER” on the barrel having weakened and, as noted above, the numbers are matching in correct factory font. The grip panels rate as good, each showing smoothing of the checkering with no cracks, chips or repairs. Mechanically fine, the action is smooth, the hammer catches on all four notches(settings or “clicks”), with the quarter-cock or “intermediate” notch being slightly weak, and the bore is graded as good for the vintage, remaining generally bright with unfaded rifling beneath lint and some powder flash abrasion-it should clean to slightly better.
