“C.L. DRAGOONS” CONFEDERATE ISSUE 3rd Model COLT DRAGOON Revolver Very Rare
One of 100 with 8” BARREL out of 10,500 Total
Here we present an antique “C.L. Dragoons” Civil War Colt 3rd Model Dragoon Confederate Issue Revolver, manufactured in 1860.
A relatively limited number (around 100) of the Third Model Dragoons were made with 8” barrels. These had serial numbers in the 18000s and 19000s range, making this both a historical treasure as well as a rarity among the Dragoon variations.
Colt’s Dragoons experienced some of the harshest conditions the mid-19th century had to offer, and it is amazing that any survived, in any condition. This pistol was designed for use by horse-mounted rifleman, and it is so much pistol that you will want a horse to carry it for you because of its significant weight. This one would have seen use during the American Civil War. This is a great opportunity to add one of Samuel Colt’s most recognized inventions to your collection, a Civil War era Colt Dragoon!
The overall condition is very good. Gray patina. Faint but visible cylinder scene. The action is excellent. The bore is in very good condition with strong rifling. The grip is solid. Numbers match.
