This is a black powder Brown Southerner Derringer in .41 Rimfire. These were made following the Civil War from 1866 to 1868. This derringer features a 2½” barrel, wood grips, brass receiver, and brass front sight. It is in excellent condition with a brown/gray patina on the bore and strong rifling. The action functions normally and the barrel locks up well.
The right grip is cracked but the crack appears stable. The serial numbers on the barrel and frame match. An excellent little pistol from the Reconstruction period!
