Here is a very nice Kentucky or Great Plains style heavy barreled buffalo gun made by J. White. This example shows a very fine level of workmanship with a heavy octagonal barrel that measures about 38 1/8" and across the muzzle it measures about 1.1" and about 1.22" at the chamber. The bore looks to be in fantastic shape - bright and shiny with strong rifling and the set triggers work properly. The maple stock is absolutely gorgeous with a great antique look.
There is a name of L. Stoner on the forend cap which looks to be the original owner. Wouldn't it be neat if he was an ancestor of Eugene Stoner? This is one of the nicest buffalo guns I have seen in a while and was likely manufactured in the 1840's to 1850's when the hunting was really picking up steam. This would be a great piece of history or fine addition to any collection so don't miss out.
