Octagon barrel measures 4 7/8" in length with a moderately bright, frosted bore with scattered moderate to heavy pits and visible rifling. Barrel retins about 40% fading original blue with the balance having toned to shades of patina with older staining and handling marks. Frame, trigger and hammer have toned to gray patina with staining and fine pinprick pitting with a couple larger pits or dings. Smooth wood grips are darkening from age with some thinning finish. Pistol is sighted with a brass front cone. Serial and assembly number are under the left grip and the barrel is matched to the assembly number. Barrel moves faintly past where it should stop when closing but tension seems good and the hammer holds at half and full cock. One of about 1,600 produced in the early to mid-1860's.
