I am offering an antique Winchester 1894 takedown in 38-55 fitted with a tang mounted peep sight. I have a Cody letter that lists this rifle by serial number as well. By serial number this rifle was made in 1896.
he action is crisp and seems to function as designed. The bore has some shine and strong rifling but shows some pitting toward the breech end. I hate to rate bores but I will give it a 7 of 10. The barrel octagon and is 26 inches long. I am fairly sure the rear sight was replaced. It does have a three-step flip "U" notch for different ranges. I have never seen this type rear before. The 38-55 is the black powder version of the .375 Winchester. Classic 94 Winchester in a very usable caliber with the very cool take-down option
