Antique Side by Side, John Crossland Combo Rifle / Smoothbore Muzzleloader. John Crossland of Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania lived from 1816-1890. Rifle was probably made in the 1840s or 1850s. Rifle is 0.335 caliber and smoothbore is 0.420 caliber as best I can measure it.
Rifle has 6" of drop at the heel and is 48" long. Length of trigger pull is 13 1/2" on the double set triggers. Bores are both frosty with minor pitting visible.
Cleaning patches go down both bores without being ripped or falling off, but you can feel texture in the bore. Barrels are 33" long.
Rifle is engraved in many places including the entire length of the top flat of both barrels. Push button on the toe plate opens the patch box. Triggers and locks function as they should.
