Up for sale is an antique Swiss Model 1842 percussion musket in 70 caliber. Rifled barrel measures 42 1/2" in length with a dull, fair but rusted bore with intact rifling. Metal surfaces have been cleaned to bare showing older staining, pinprick pitting, scattered impact marks and some areas of newer rust starting to develop. Wood stock is darkening from age and shows remants of older added finish along with assorted dings, dents, marks and softened chipping while the left side of the cheek features a dished rest. Musket is sighted with a blade front sight, graduated toggle rear which is a bit loose and a fixed rear notch next to the hammer. Barrel shank and stock are both marked with matching serial numbers while the lock, side plate, trigger guard and barrel bands are marked "Crown/AF" with a few other small markings along with a Swiss Cross and Shield on the barrel shank. Included with the musket is a flare tipped ramrod. Hammer holds at half and full cock and the nipple appears to be plugged with rust.
