Antique R&J.D. Johnson single shot percussion conversion rifle in .69 caliber. Likely a flintlock conversion rifle. Lock has federal eagle markings and the company name. "1832/MIDD CONN" marked vertical on the lock plate. U.S. proofs on the barrel. Inspector cartouche on the left side of the stock. Blade front sight. Heavy brown patina finish. Wood has a period oil finish, with original smooth metal butt plate. Original ramrod and socket bayonet. Bayonet is unmarked, minus a "D" on the left side of the socket. CONDITION: Metal has a consistent brown patina throughout. Some pitting around the action area. Wood has wear from age, with some minor chipping around the butt plate and lock plate. Few light surface cracks in front of the lock plate. Bore is frosted, with some pitting. Action is working. Nipple is pitted. Bayonet has mixed patina and cleaned pitting. Antique, no licence required
