Very good condition antique German GEW 88/05 Commission Rifle in 8mm Mauser caliber. Has the upgrade to allow use of standard 98 Mauser stripper clips. Rifle was supplied to the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) during WWI and has the Turkish crescent marking on the receiver ring. Rifle is NOT import marked and has nonmatching numbers. Unit marked “164.R.10.77.” on the receiver side rail for the 164th (4th Hannover) Infantry Regiment, Company 10, Weapon 77.
Metal finish is nice Turk arsenal reblue. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling and a little pitting. Stock was Turk arsenal refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock has faint German proof mark cartouches.
Complete with correct original cleaning rod and detachable sling swivel. A nice GEW 88/05 rifle for your collection.
