Up for sale is an antique British Thomas Patent self extracting double action revolver in about 45 caliber. Octagon barrel measures 5 ½" in length with a dull, frosted bore showing light to moderate pitting. Metal surfaces are almost entirely shades of gray patina with patches of older brown staining, scattered handling marks, high edge wear, scratches and areas of pinprick pitting. Wood grip have a dark appearance with moderate to heavily worn checkering and scattered dings. Revolver is sighted with drift adjustable cone shaped front and notch rear. Lower left of the frame is marked “Thomas Patent N2779/No 9” while the top strap is retailer marked “Holeywell & Tolley/Peterborough”.
Cylinder shows Birmingham proofs and manufactured by the Birmingham firm of Tipping & Lawden around the 1870 time period.
