This ANTIQUE 1886 WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 SPORTING RIFLE HIGH WALL in .45-60 Cal. is in approx. 50% condition. .30 in. #3 Octagonal barrel -
Case hardened frames standard until 1901 when bluing became standard, three different frames depending on caliber. Heavier barrels in rare calibers will bring a premium. Mfg. 1886. Serial Number 65xx. Barrel bore has good rifling, and is shiny. There are some scratches, dings, and dents on the stocks and metal surfaces, appropriate with its age. Metal is starting to turn a nice dark brown patina in some areas, and is wearing off in other areas.
Action is smooth and works well.
