Fair condition Afghanistan vet bringback British Pattern 1853 Enfield musket. Bore gauges at about .63 caliber. Lock has faint “ENFIELD” and Victorian crown markings. Mechanically works fine. Metal is “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. 39” barrel appears to be a local-made replacement and has a simple notch rear sight and blade front sight. Bore is poor, dark and pitted. Smooth, not rifled. Stock shows wear and handling marks. Both sides of buttstock have tack recoration. Right side of stock has a few cracks by the lock. Underside of forend has a crack in front of the triggerguard. Complete with ramrod. Comes with original affidavit pape. An interesting Afghanistan bringback British P53 Enfield musket.
