Up for sale is a pair of antique T. Redfern marked percussion single shot boot or muff pistols in about 44 caliber. Barrels both measure 2 7/8" in length with both appearing dark and heavily frosted with scattered moderate pitting with one also showing some shallow visible rifling and the other looks to be a smooth bore. Barrel on the smooth bore does unscrew but the rifled barrel is frozen. Both pistol feature light floral and scroll engraving on the sides and tangs with a sunburst on the trigger guard. Metal surfaces have toned to a mix of brown and gray patina with patches of freckling and older rust staining along with scattered handling marks and some pinprick pitting around the nipples. Saw or bag shaped wood handles show flaking finish with scratches and abrasions and both feature a German Silver monogram plate. Sold as a pair.
