Today for auction a 38 rimfire, six-shot with a 7 ½” octagon barrel which is serial number 32 of the First Type. The serial numbers are located under the left grip panel and under the barrel and on the rear of the cylinder. The bore is bright and shiny with rifling and the mechanical function is good. This is the largest of the Bacon metallic cartridge handguns made and was considered a Secondary Martial handgun by collectors. This particular pistol shows some signs of wear given its age, some chips in the wooden grips, the cylinder spins freely and does not lock up. Hammer and trigger function properly and lock into all positions. Most of the finish has worn off the pistol but the engravings and manufacturer can still be seen. Metal has developed a rich grey and bronze patina.
